Bradford District FA Supporting Local Clubs with Improvement Fund

Following the closure of the Injured Players Fund, the Bradford and District FA have introduced an Open Age Improvement Fund in order to assist...

The District FA also used the fund to set up a scheme for clubs to apply for small grants/interest free loans via a simple application form. Some of the loans have been used as part funding to obtain additional FA funding to improve grounds or to make emergency repairs to showers, floodlights, dressing rooms, and ball stop netting.  These grants have also enabled clubs to buy lawnmowers, line markers and defibrillators allowing clubs to become more sustainable and safer. Applications for funding towards the general running costs of clubs such as kit, equipment and footballs is not eligible under the scheme.

Thackley FC was one of the clubs to successfully apply to the fund and in thanking the District FA, wrote: “At a time when clubs are finding it difficult to survive the assistance from Bradford FA was very much appreciated. The application form provides clear criteria and the help we have received during the application process has been excellent.”

Asad Qureshi, Football Development Officer, at West Riding County FA said “It’s great to see the District FA take on board the needs of their member clubs and provide a fund that will help clubs to keep running and potentially grow. If there are any clubs in the District looking for money towards eligible costs, then I would urge them to contact the District FA.”
