The Good Mood League is a project in conjunction with the NHS South West Yorkshire Trust Partnership (SWYT) and Creative Minds, working with groups and service users accessing NHS mental health services across the region. The group is made up of teams playing recreationally in their own environment before coming together on a quarterly basis to compete in fixtures against teams from other service areas.
Individuals involved in the league represent their service including teams from Early Insight of Psychosis (EIP) service from across the region, we also have a team representing an addiction and rehabilitation service called Reflections and a team from the Forensic Unit at Newton Lodge. Some individuals from within these services are unable to access mainstream football provision (affiliated or even recreational) due to their current mental health, so the league aims to reach those individuals and create an opportunity for them to engage in the sport as well as providing wider benefits.
The Ability Counts League is a pan disability league open to both adults and juniors with any disability. The league has 5 open age division and 3 youth divisions with the youth divisions operating a 4 year age banding.
