Walking Football
West Riding FA is committed to the development and growth of Walking Football in the County, and we have been helping new clubs start up across West Riding with either financial support or advice from members of our development team.
The sport is continuing to grow and develop and alongside the popular demand for recreational walking football, we’re now recognising the increased demand for a competitive element to this slower-paced version of the beautiful game. West Riding FA is currently developing ways in which to support the growth of the competitive game and more information will be released on this across the course of the season.
So, whether you’re looking for a social kick about or to find your old competitive edge, in West Riding we have something to suit you.
Since January 2014, West Riding FA has invested over £25,000 into developing Recreational Football Session all over the county. This investment includes multiple Walking Football Sessions which are listed on the “list of sessions and centres” document.
West Riding FA has provided funding to support the start-up cost of creating a Recreational Football Session to help towards the cost of facilities, equipment, staffing and whatever else is needed. West Riding FA’s Development Team also provides registered sessions with invaluable advice on how to engage recreational footballs, create player exit routes and grow/develop the success of the session. This has helped to establish a healthy number of sessions in the county, helping over 1600 open aged participants (16 years +) access football in West Riding FA.
