Greetland Players to Walk Out Halifax Town at Wembley

Cup finals are always an incredibly special occasion. And on the 22nd of May when Halifax Town meet Grimsby in the FA Trophy final both Connor Few...

After a premature birth, Alex (pictured with West Riding FA Disability Football Development Officer James Doyle and Halifax Towns’ Steve Nichol) was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, however he didn’t let that stop him from doing what he loves.  Every Saturday he can be found playing football with his local team Greetland Goldstars.   Alex is quite the talent too, winning the managers player of the season!  So this appointment will really cap off a wonderful year for Alex.

Alex commented "It's a total dream come true - I had to pinch myself when it happened as I wasn't sure it was actually happening! It's nice to be recognised for my commitment. What a good day".

Connor has Autism and, like Alex, he has been involved with Greetland’s disability team from day one. He is a very skilful player who is a valued member of the team and who has flourished over the past year through his involvement in the club.  Being a huge Halifax Town fan, walking out with the team at Wembley will mean so much to him.

Halifax’s emotional rollercoaster of a season will come to an end on the 22nd of May, and we here at West Riding County FA would like to wish the Club, Alex and Connor all the best, in what is sure to be a highly competitive and excellent game. Hopefully they will end their season on a high!
