Independent Discipline Panel Members Wanted
In July 2017, The Football Association mandated that, from January 2018, all County FA disciplinary hearings must contain at least one independent member. Independent means someone who comes from outside the County FA Council, which is where all members are currently appointed from, to consider cases.
We are therefore seeking to appoint a number of members to our Independent Discipline Panel (‘IDP’) The main role of the IDP will be to consider misconduct charges issued as a result of alleged breaches of Rules and Regulations, at a local level. They will do so by being appointed to Personal and Non-Personal Hearings, where cases are deliberated and, in the case of Personal Hearings live evidence considered.
We are looking for a diverse group of committed individuals across the County, from a variety of backgrounds. Our aim is for the IDP to be fully reflective of the local community, covering football Clubs, referees, district FA’s, Leagues, other competitions and suitable individuals from outside of football. Applicants need to be able to demonstrate the ability to consider breaches of FA Rules and Regulations in a fair and appropriate manner, reaching consistent and reasonable decisions. In all circumstances, full training and mentoring will be provided.
The appointments are on a voluntary basis, although reasonable expenses may be paid, in line with the West Riding County FA expenses policy. Hearings take place either during the day (usually commencing at 10am and lasting a maximum of 75 minutes) or during the evening (usually commencing at 6:30pm and lasting anywhere up to 2.5 hours, depending on the number of cases) For cases which take place during the day, there is the ability to attend these via the internet, from your home, office or any other convenient location. Again, full training on this will be provided.
If you are interested or know of anyone who you feel would be suitable to apply for the panel, please ask them to complete the application form below.
If you would like to discuss the role further, please do not hesitate to contact Lee Maran on 0113 282 1222. Conversations will be informal and kept confidential.
